LV 566

LV 566 was an F7A delivered in February 1950, in the Cornell Red scheme with three black stripes.  It was repainted into the later Tuscan scheme, probably in April 1969.  Like most of the units receiving the later Tuscan scheme, 566 had a unique identifying feature - its nose herald.  The white flag in a black diamond looks like the nose herald used with the original Cornell Red scheme, but the flag is white instead of gray, and the details of the flag are slightly different from the earlier gray flag.  It appears that the same flag stencil as used on the left side of the cab was also used for the nose herald.  These unique features are included on this limited edition model.

LV 519

LV 519 was an F3B delivered in November 1948.  Like all the Lehigh Valley's F-units, it initially wore the Cornell Red scheme with three black stripes.  When the first Tuscan scheme with the 2 inch dulux gold stripe was introduced, 519 was repainted in that scheme.  However, it received several more repaints before being traded in to EMD on the GP38AC order in October 1971.  These two photos show the scheme we have used for the model.  It has the 4 inch stripe, with small Roman lettering but with a large Gothic number located above the stripe.  Like 566, 519 also had a unique identifier - it was the only B-unit to wear the white flag above the stripe, between the first two portholes.

Although 519 was an F3B, it looked like an F7B while it wore the Tuscan scheme.  At some point in its career, its dynamic brake exhaust fan was swapped for a fan from an F7, probably from LV 574.  Since the external fan shroud is the key feature that distinguishes a Phase I F7 from a Phase IV F3, we have used the Stewart F7B shell for our model, as well as the unique paint features for LV 519.
